Notes	All juniors under the age of 18 as of 31 August 2017 are welcome. There is no grading limit but a rapidplay grade above 120 is needed to play in the U18 Major section, or agreement at the descretion of the chief arbiter. All sections will be sent for rapidplay grading with the ECF. Registration: 9:00am First Round: 9:30am Prize Giving: 5:00pm (Est) In the U18 Major and U18 Minor sections there will be five rounds; 40 minutes each. There is a cash prize fund which will be split between the top three players based on score. In the event of a tie on points, the cash prize will be split equally between the relevant players. In the U9 and U11 there will be 6 rounds: 30 minutes each. There are trophies and medals to be awarded. Since the trophies are pre-prepared, we are ONLY able to be award these to the top three players in each section based on tournament score. In the event of a tie on points, the top three will be subsequently decided using the Buchholz system (the sum of opponents’ score) and then on the results between those specific players still tied, the number of wins and finally their tournament grading performance. Those players who are tied on score with the top three, but do not qualify for a trophy, will be awarded a medal. Clocks will be used in all sections and help will be given to anyone unfamiliar with them. Players must be present at prize giving to receive their award Pairings are run using the Tournament Director software which is specifically designed to help organise, run and report on ECF graded tournaments. All sections are paired using the Swiss Pairing system. Once pairings for the first round have been prepared, it may be necessary for organisers to re-pair certain individuals if their opponents are not present for the start of the round. Re-pairings will be done at the Organisers absolute discretion and their decision is final. Parents will be asked to leave the playing area before the start of each round and will not be allowed in whilst games are in progress unless explicitly agreed with the Organisers. In general, sections will not be merged. The Organisers, at their absolute discretion, reserve the right to merge sections in the event of an insufficient number of entries in one or more sections. An insufficient number of entries will generally mean unrelated entries of 8 or less in a particular section. If merged, prizes will still be awarded to the participants of the original individual sections but GP points will be awarded based on the multipliers for the higher of the merged sections. See below. Kent Junior Grand Prix This event is also one of the eight events that form our 2017/18 Grand Prix season. Results from this tournament earn points towards the overall Kent Junior Grand Prix for the season. Each player’s four best scores from any of our first seven GP's PLUS their score in the final will be added up to rank players on the GP Table under four separate age groups (Under 9, Under 11, Under 14 and Under 18) with prizes and awards to be won at the GP final in June 2018. To be eligible for an award at the GP final, a player must have been to at least 4 GPs AND the GP Final. There is also a Primary Schools and a Secondary Schools trophy for the season. Scores from top 3 juniors from a school will count towards the end of season school team trophy. Entries for this event close at 7PM on the day before the tournament and if an event is oversubscribed, preference will be given to those who have entered and paid by this cut off time. Subsequent entries made after the cut off will be charged at £20. Food/Drink The KJCA Volunteer Mobile Catering will be at this event. There will be tea and coffee, along with water, soft drinks, cookies and other light refreshments, all at extremely reasonable prices. Behaviour, parental supervision and disclaimers The KJCA is most grateful to all schools for the use of their facilities. Please treat the school premises with respect and please do not park on any school fields. A high standard of behaviour is expected at all times. Players entering or leaving the playing area while other games are in progress should do so quietly. The KJCA and its officials are unable to act in loco parentis for children. Parents/guardians are responsible for their children throughout the entire duration of this event. Children under the age of 8 must remain under sole parental supervision throughout but this supervision may be shared between adults in the case of children of 8 years old and over.
